Chromium is a mineral that occurs naturally in the earth. It was first discovered in 1797 by a chemist in France and studied by a US research scientist years after. Even today, the research on Chromium is still on its infancy but the current research does show that chromium plays a fundamental role in our body. In fact, Chromium is known as an essential mineral and it is now known that the body requires trace amounts of chromium.

Recent research suggests that chromium can have multiple health benefits. Some of these benefits include motoring blood sugar, helping metabolism, reducing food cravings, regulating fat, regulating cholesterol, and preventing hypertension. Indeed, chromium has been shown to help with metabolizing carbohydrates and fats. Research has shown to stimulate fatty acid and cholesterol synthesis, both of which are important for body processes.

Since chromium cannot be found naturally on the body, it has to be obtained from diet. Some good sources of chromium include spinach, bananas, apples, green peppers, wheat germ, oysters, chicken, eggs, liver, beef, and brewer's yeast.
